The project

The “QuirofAM” project falls within the LLAVOR 3D Community, which includes as its strategic priority the “Enhancement of Innovation in Product and Technology” in the Industrial Systems sector area, and under this paradigm determines the strategical technological areas and the challenges and opportunities arising.

The objective of the “QuirofAM” project is to transform surgical practice through incorporating additive manufacturing on three levels: surgical trial models, guides and implants for reconstruction and bioactive implants for generating tissue. One of the most interesting benefits of this technology in the biomedical sector is the personalisation of treatments.

Over the course of this project the conversion of scanned medical images of the human body into files suitable for constructing parts using Additive Manufacturing (AM) will be researched, as will obtaining new biocompatible materials, developing more efficient and versatile production procedures, new post processes and superficial treatments supplying better properties for surgical practice and the technological validation of the results obtained.
