Daniel Pereda Arnau

Daniel Pereda Arnau is the Director of the Congenital Cardiopathy Centre (SJD - Clinic) and Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department at Hospital Clinic Barcelona. Training in cardiovascular surgery at Hospital Clinic (2004-2009), he undertook additional training as an Advanced Cardiovascular Surgery Fellow at Mayo Clinic (2009-2010, Rochester, Minnesota, USA) and as a Cardiac Surgery Fellow at Johns Hopkins University (2010-2011, Baltimore, Maryland, USA). He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialisms at the University of Barcelona's School of Medicine.

His main areas of specialisation are congenital cardiac defect surgery, valve repair and minimally invasive surgery, with particular interest in robotic heart surgery. 

He also combines his healthcare and research activity with his basic and translational research as a guest scientist at the Department of Atherothrombosis, Imaging and Epidemiology at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares [National Centre for Cardiovascular Research] (CNIC), where he developed a series of experimental surgical models on large animals for application in various areas – in particular, in the field of pulmonary hypertension.
