The Kazakhstan Ministry of Health is shown the services offered by SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital

SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital has been visited by a delegation from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Health Social Fund, which is responsible for public healthcare in Kazakhstan and manages the patients taken abroad for treatments that are not available there.

The visit was made by the Executive Director of the Social Fund, Dr Nurlan Kasímov, and Elmira Kablanbayeva, Director of the Department for Organisation of Treatments Abroad.

The aim of the visit was for the delegation to familiarise itself with SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, its infrastructures and, particularly, the highly specialised services the centre is able to provide to children. During their tour, the delegation were able to meet specialists from the centre who have treated patients the Kazakhstan Ministry of Health has already sent to the Hospital through the Social Fund.

SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital has been treating children from Kazakhstan for years and this year two patients with benign brain tumours and epilepsy benefited from laser thermocoagulation neurosurgery approved in the European Union at the beginning of 2019.
