Pediatria dels Pirineus
Alt Urgell had always had difficulties in providing paediatric care, due to the shortage of specialist professionals and the geographical location of the area. In 2010, the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, together with a group of innovative paediatricians from the area, formed a cooperative society to provide healthcare, both in the primary care centres in the county and at the Hospital de l'Alt Urgell.
This management model, a pioneer in Catalonia, gives the professionals a greater role and at the same time ensures the integration of primary and hospital care. The cooperative's professionals take part in continuous training courses given at the Hospital and are in daily contact with the centre. The Hospital coordinates paediatric, gynaecological and obstetric care in the Alt Urgell region.
CAPI Barcelona Esquerra
A public centre offering primary, specialised and emergency care services to children and adolescents in the Barcelona Esquerra Integrated Health Area (districts of Sants-Montjuïc, Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Esquerra del Eixample).
This facility improves care, as it allows many more health problems to be solved directly at the same centre, facilitates access to specialised care and emergencies, and favours coordination between paediatricians with specialists and the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital.
