SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital is taking part in a new European network for paediatric clinical trials
The project is coordinated by the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network. Its objective is to develop tools specific for these trials.
The Clinical Trials Unit at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital is taking part in a new European network, Pediatric Clinical Research Infraestructure Network (PedCRIN), to conduct non-commercial paediatric trials. PedCRIN is a project coordinated by the European Clinical Reserarch Infraestructure Network (ECRIN) which brings together more than 20 national networks and aims to develop tools specific for paediatric and neonatal trial.
The project’s final aim is to develop the infrastructure and tools that will enable studies to be conducted by facilitating patient recruitment across Europe, and by providing all the resources that will enable multi-centre clinical trials to be conducted.
The SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital will lead one of the five work packages that will develop capacity during the project and this will be based on two areas of activity:
- Communication related to the network’s scientific activity, and in general with regard to the clinical research within paediatrics, targeting different audiences (children, parents and families, the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory agencies, etc.).
- Education and empowerment of patients (children and young people) during the different phases of clinical trials being conducted through the PedCRIN network.
