I am a pediatric oncologist specialized in the late effects of childhood cancer and in long-term follow-up after treatment. I obtained my medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and subsequently completed my specialty training in Pediatrics and Subspecialty Areas at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital. After completing my residency, I undertook a Fellowship in Pediatric Oncology and Hematology at the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona, followed by a second Fellowship in Childhood Cancer Survivorship at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), affiliated with the University of Toronto (Canada).

My main areas of interest include global pediatric oncology, cardiotoxicity, and the development of international guidelines. I am a member of the International Guideline Harmonization Group for Late Effects of Childhood Cancer, which is dedicated to the development of clinical guidelines, and of the PanCare Education Working Group, focused on educational activities related to late effects at the European level. In addition, I am part of the Latin American Consortium for Long-Term Follow-Up, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and St. Jude Global, to promote regional strategies for long-term care in childhood cancer. I am currently a principal investigator in the Joint Action Networks of Expertise in Cancer (JANE-2), where I lead the work package focused on this area.
