Victoria Becerra Castro

I have a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from the University of Extremadura, I am a Neurosurgery specialist and I have a Ph.D in Medicine from the University of Navarra. I have been working as a Neurosurgery specialist at SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital since 2019. My clinical activity covers the different fields of pediatric neurosurgical disease, with a special interest and research role in the treatment of brain and spinal tumours in childhood and adolescence. I believe that constant updating, coupled with the latest technological innovations that we have at our disposal, allows us to offer our patients and their families high quality treatment, on both a physical and emotional level.

I like to spend my free time with my family, sharing trips and adventures. I enjoy reading, and I write for both young and older audiences alike.

• Ph.D in Medicine from the Universidad de Navarra: Clinical and radiological analysis of a series of patients with recently diagnosed glioblastoma. Outstanding, Cum Laude, 2019.
• Doctoral courses in Neuroscience and Cognition, Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Navarra, 2013-2015.
• Specialist in Neurosurgery. Training programme at the Universidad de Navarra Clinic, 2013 - 2018.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medicine. Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Extremadura, 2012.

Scientific activity

• Researcher in the working group: Anatomical and functional correlation in eloquent motor and language areas using pre- and intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) at SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, since 2020.
• Presentations at various national congresses on Neurosurgery (Spanish Society of Neurosurgery -SENEC) and Pediatric Neurosurgery (Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology -SENEP).
