Mercè Jabalera Contreras
She became Director of Quality and Patient Experience in 2019 after having been responsible for clinical quality and safety in the Medical Management department, and coordinator of the EMC2 model for achieving excellence in healthcare processes. She has also been responsible for patient safety and the functional safety group of SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital.
In addition to her activity at the Hospital, she has been a member of the Advisory Committee on Minority Diseases (CAMM) of the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia, member of the ECHO group (European Children’s Hospital Organisation) and associate lecturer on various master’s and postgraduate courses at the Universitat de Barcelona.
She has a degree in Biology with the Fundamental Biology specialty (1991) and a Master’s in Biotechnology (1993) from the Universitat de Barcelona. She also has a master’s degree from the Fundación Avedis Donabedian - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Methodology for the Evaluation and Improvement of Healthcare Quality (2006). She completed her training with a course on the Joint Commission accreditation model (2013) and with in-house training at SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital in Prevention and Detection of Corporate Crimes (AENOR 2018) and in Management for Directors.
