Ester Casas Gimeno

I am a paediatric ophthalmologist with over 25 years’ experience at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, specialising in complex oculoplastic conditions. My clinical practice focuses on conditions affecting the eyelids, orbit and lacrimal system, with a particular emphasis on the treatment of congenital eyelid ptosis and other congenital malformations. I am in charge of the nationally recognised CSUR programme for congenital disorders of ocular and eyelid development, and I am also a member of the CSUR for paediatric orbital tumours.

In the teaching field, I coordinate the training in paediatric ophthalmology for ophthalmology trainees, both from Catalonia and the rest of Spain.

• Participation in various medical research studies published in scientific journals.

• Associate professor of the Master's Degree in Paediatric Optometry at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years.
• Associate professor of the Master's Degree in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal Ducts and Orbit at TECH: Congenital pathology of the lacrimal duct during the 2023-2024 academic year.
• Associate professor of the UIC-ICR Master's Degree in Oculoplastics, Orbit and Lacrimal Ducts during the 2022-2023 academic year.
