SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital belongs to the St. John of God Province of Spain of the Hospitaller Order, a non-profit institution that belongs to the Catholic Church and is dedicated to healthcare, socio-health, social, teaching and research through various facilities, including hospitals, mental health centres, centres for people with disabilities, for the elderly and for people in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion.
The Hospitaller Order upholds a model of comprehensive care focused on the person assisted and their social and family environment, adapted to the challenges of today's society, with the objectives of promoting and improving people's health and quality of life without distinction due to gender, beliefs or origin, and to create a fairer and more caring society.
In Spain, the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God has a network of 80 health, social, socio-health, teaching and research centres that attend nearly one million people a year. It is made up of 180 Brothers, 15,000 professionals, almost 3,500 volunteers and numerous donors and benefactors.
The Hospitaller Order is present in 52 countries with 405 social, health, teaching and research centres and foundations around the world, providing more than 35 million treatments a year. This work is possible thanks to the involvement of 1,012 Brothers, 65,000 professionals and 23,500 volunteers.
SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital is a private non-profit institution, with a vocation for public service since its creation in 1867. Our hospital has been dedicated to comprehensive care for women, children and adolescents, and has become one of the most important specialised paediatric centres in Europe. Our care is based on the multidisciplinary work of our professionals.
