Ferran Torner Rubies

My professional career has always been linked to oncological orthopaedic surgery and the treatment of musculoskeletal tumours. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. Subsequently, I obtained my PhD Cum Laude with a thesis focused on tumour knee prostheses in children and adolescents, and completed a Master’s degree in Hospital and Health Services Management.

I have been working at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital for years, where I have taken on different clinical responsibilities. I am currently the head of the Sarcoma and Musculoskeletal Tumour Unit at the Hospital. I combine this work with my teaching activity as an associate professor at the Universitat de Barcelona and with my research activity at the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu. I am the author of the book ‘Tumores óseos malignos en la infancia y la adolescencia’ and numerous scientific publications.

• Placement at the specialised oncology hospital St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis (USA), 2007–2008. Specialisation in Reconstructive Oncological Surgery and Limb Salvage.
