Iván Cano Cámara

After completing my paediatric residency at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, I continued my career in the Paediatrics Department. For five years, I combined this role with clinical practice at Hospital Meritxell in Andorra, where I worked as a paediatrician in A&E, inpatient care, neonatology and outpatient clinics covering various specialities such as infectious diseases, rheumatology and haematology.

Within the inpatient setting, I am also responsible for admissions at Casa de Sofia and, since 2024, I have also served as coordinator of the Pain Unit at SJD Barcelona, contributing to clinical care, teaching and research.

Scientific activity

• Doctoral thesis project on paediatric acute mastoiditis, focusing on the study of the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic factors associated with the condition, 2026.
• Researcher at the Paediatric Pain Unit, SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, 2024–present.
• Collaborating researcher on the Digital SPA project, focusing on the development and implementation of a digital intervention to manage chronic pain in children.
• Collaborating researcher on multicentre projects on functional disorders and paediatric pain, 2025–present.
• Collaborating researcher on projects involving innovation and artificial intelligence applied to paediatric clinical practice, including the DxGPT project (support for differential diagnosis using language models) and the LAIA project (transcription and support for clinical documentation using artificial intelligence).

Teaching

• Course on an interdisciplinary approach to chronic paediatric pain.
• Teaching assistant in the training of paediatric residents and medical students at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital since 2017.
