Maria Elias Abadias

I am a psychologist specialised in clinical psychology, having trained as a medical intern (2003) and I am a doctoral student at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I work at the Mental Health Departments at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, focused on the fields of care, research and teaching.

Throughout my career, I have worked at units of acute disorders, mental health centres for children and young people, a day hospital for adolescents, as an outpatients doctor and in cross-consultation at the Neonatology Department. I have worked at the High Specialisation Unit for Autism since 2013 and at the Early Care Unit since 2017.

I am the head of the follow-up programme for infants at the risk of neurological disorders at the Mental Health Department. I have been involved in numerous research projects in Spain and abroad, seven of which are funded research projects, and I am writing my doctoral thesis on the study of neurodevelopmental and psychopathological disorders in premature children at the age of two and the associated parental factors.

I am a lecturer on the Master's Degree in General Health at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Psychology and the Master's Degree in Neuropsychiatry and Psychology for Children and Adolescents at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I am the head of teaching at the Early Care Unit, and have an active involvement in teaching clinical psychologists and postgraduate psychology students.
