Heads of the division for international patients of Abu Dhabi visit SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital

17 October 2019

Since 2014, the United Arab Emirates has depended on the Hospital for the treatment of children with complex pediatric diseases

A delegation from the emirate of Abu Dhabi Department of Health has visited SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital as part of the collaboration that began between the centre and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2014. During the visit, the delegation representatives were able to visit the centre’s facilities and see how different departments operate.

The delegation, which belongs to the Department of Health’s International Patient Care Division (IPCD) , was headed by its Director, Hind Al Zaabi, accompanied by doctors Nawal Al Kaabi and Yaaqoub Al Hammadi, Chair and Vice Chair of the IPCD’s medical board.

During the visit, the delegation was able to get a first-hand look at different areas including the Day Hospital, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Heart Area and the admissions area. They were also able to visit the Espai Famílies, home to all the non-medical support services for patients’ families provided by SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital.

Part of the visit also included the new surgical block facilities, already in the final phase of construction.

Lastly, the heads of the different Hospital departments answered questions and queries from the IPCD representatives and exchanged impressions of their visit.

Since the beginning of the cooperation with the Government of the United Arab Emirates in 2014, SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital has become a centre of reference to which this country entrusts the treatment of children with complex pediatric diseases.
