Continued online training in Pediatric Oncology at the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center is guaranteed thanks to the support of Foundation S
Since 2019, the TeLeo platform has provided training to over 3,500 professionals from 12 different countries in Latin America, and it will continue to do so for another four years
The SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital has signed an agreement in collaboration with Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective regarding TeLeo, the online training programme for Pediatric Oncology established in Latin America, guaranteeing its continuation for another four years.
This agreement, alongside the Foundation S ‘My Child Matters’ programme, aims to ensure continued support of this initiative by the Sanofi Collective, which has been in place since the programme's founding in 2019.
The SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, in association with the Leo Messi Foundation, the Sanofi Espoir Foundation (replaced by Foundation S in 2022), and the Natali Flexer Foundation, took part in developing the TeLeo programme (Tele-education in Pediatric Oncology in Latin America). The programme was founded in 2019, with the TeLeo online platform launching in April 2021. Since late 2022, the programme has been under the direct management of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona.
This programme—praised by scientific investigation bodies such as the Sociedad Internacional de Oncología Pediátrica (SIOP), the International Society of Pediatric Oncology, or the Sociedad Latino Americana de Oncología Pediátrica (SLAOP), the Latin American Society of Pediatric Oncology—provides online training material in Spanish and English. Content is created by leading experts in Pediatric Oncology and is for doctors, nurses, psychosocial and associated specialised professionals (such as radiotherapy) that are based in Latin American countries.
Furthermore, the programme promotes interaction between healthcare professionals in these countries, making it easier to share clinical dilemmas in a given field, therefore providing even greater value to participants. To date, more than 3,500 professionals have benefitted from this programme.
General Director of Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective, Vanina Laurent-Ledru says ‘it’s an honour to be able to contribute to and collaborate with SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital on such an important project. My Child Matters is an iniative that has been working towards improved diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of children with cancer living in poorer countries since 2005. There is no doubt in my mind that this programme offers an essential tool to promote professional healthcare worker training, and, consequently, help more children in vulnerable situations’.
