Treatments we offer

The team at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital is a national leader in certain surgical procedures and treatments. There are several maxillofacial surgery procedures that are performed depending on the disease or malformation and each patient's stage of growth. The most common of these are:

Llip and palate cleft

We offer comprehensive, multi-disciplinary treatment that includes the closure of fistulas, iliac crest graft and rhinoplasty in order to achieve facial harmony.

Orthognathic surgery and mentoplasty

We correct dentofacial deformities, particularly in patients with cleft lip or palate and craniofacial malformations, in order to achieve proper chewing and improve the patient's functionality and appearance.

Facial and mandibular distraction

This technique allows the bones in the face to be lengthened from the neonatal stage up to adulthood. We treat Pierre Robin sequence, Goldenhar syndrome, Treacher Collins syndrome, Crouzon syndrome, Apert syndrome, etc.

Maxillofacial oncology

We surgically treat oncological diseases of the oral cavity, face and neck, as well as the related organs. We do reconstructive surgery.

Temperomandibular joint (TMJ)

We diagnose and treat disorders that affect this joint through arthroscopy or minimally invasive surgery.

Preprosthetic surgery

We treat maxillary bone loss in order to fit dental implants, either using bone substitutes or the patient's own bone. Department not covered by public health.
