SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital has been ranked 146th in Newsweek magazine’s ‘World’s Best Specialised Hospitals 2027’ category, moving up 27 places from the previous edition.
Newsweek magazine has once again published its international ‘World’s Best Specialised Hospitals 2027’ ranking, in which SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital has been ranked 146th. These figures place our centre amongst the 150 best paediatric hospitals in the world and also represent an improvement of 27 places compared with the previous edition. This result consolidates an upward trend in recent years and reflects our professionals’ commitment to providing paediatric care of the highest standard for patients and their families, as well as a firm commitment to innovation and research.
In addition to its rise in the global paediatrics ranking, in this edition the Hospital has been recognised, for the fourth consecutive year, with a special recognition in paediatric oncology and has also, for the second time, received two PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) awards, an increasingly important indicator in the evaluation of healthcare centres due to its ability to incorporate patients’ experiences.
An internationally recognised ranking
The ‘World’s Best Specialised Hospitals’ ranking is compiled annually by Newsweek, in collaboration with Statista, and recognises the world’s leading hospitals in various medical specialities. Based on the data they analyse, these publications draw up a benchmark list for the following year – in this case, 2027 – based on the performance of these centres to date.
In the case of Paediatrics, the ranking identifies the 250 best hospitals in this speciality worldwide. The assessment is based on three main pillars: recommendations from international healthcare professionals, the accreditations and quality certifications obtained by the centres, and the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), tools that gather feedback on healthcare from the perspective of the patient and their family.

This latest recognition, along with other strategic milestones achieved by SJD Barcelona, reinforces the Hospital’s international standing as a centre of excellence in highly specialised paediatric care and highlights the work of all the professionals involved in patient care, research, innovation and teaching.
