I am a pediatric hematology specialist. In 1976, I participated in the first bone marrow transplantation in Spain, and since then I have performed over 500. I am a tenured lecturer in Pediatrics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the coordinator for the Spanish Bone Marrow Transplant Group. Founding member of the Spanish Section of Pediatric Hematology in 1976, of which I was president from 2003 to 2008. I was also a founding member of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in 2008, being its first president. From 2007 to 2015 I coordinated the National Pediatric Protocols for Leukemia and, since 2004, the Spanish Bone Marrow Transplantation in Children Group.
