Research projects in epilepsy

SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital now has 3 research projects in progress on themes related to epilepsy in children and adolescents.

  • Prospective study: mood and neurobehavioural disorders in children with new/recent onset epilepsy. 
  • Pilot study on the frequency of care difficulties in patients with epilepsy: detection, relation to demographic and clinical variables, effect of pharmacological treatment with methylphenidate.
  • Mood and neurobehavioural disorders in children with new/recent onset epilepsy: a Lyon_Barcelona_Bologna longitudinal study.

Clinical trials with antiepileptic drugs

  • Efficacy and safety of brivaracetam as added treatment in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy between the ages of 1 month and 16 years.
  • Efficacy and safety of pregabalin as added treatment in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy between the ages of 1 month to 4 years.
  • Efficacy and safety of fenfluramine as added treatment in paediatric patients with Dravet Syndrome.
